After India, London was overwhelming. All those anonymous faces breezing past me, the overwhelming size of the city... You realise just how insignificant you are - a sole star in the Milky Way. One singular light amongst millions.
So I headed home to Poole.
My dad picked me up from Southampton in his little blue van. We spent the first 15 minutes of the drive chatting then I just sat there and stared at the landscape. It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen since arriving in England. Huge fluffy white clouds superimposed onto a haze of blue. They seemed as if they were right ahead of us - as if we were driving towards them; some sort of castle in the sky that we could climb and romp amongst. The sun glinting over the New Forest - the woody green contrasting with the cyan-blue sky.
This evening I sat on a rock, looking out on Poole Harbour, at the dazzling lights of the town and marvelling at it's beauty. I have spent one week being miserable, seeing things in shades of grey. Now I see the splendour once more. The fog has lifted.
Since I've been home I've had so many questions. Travelling has made me realise just how much of a free spirit I am. I cannot be harnessed nor held down. I need to make some major lifestyle changes. I've identified just who I am, and I have an idea of what I want. Now I just have to bite the bullet and make things happen.
And I will.

Cheers, Paula.
Thanks backpacker - maybe I could write and you could photograph? Set up a Goan-based magazine to take over the world??
Paula, this won't be my last post! :) Will keep going - although I suspect I'll be really scraping the barrel to find something in London life interesting enough to blog about!! Glad you are enjoying my blog.
