Does your top pass the Daz Challenge?

Was great to have an extra day with Long Jon and Smart Fred - they've now headed off to Thailand for 5 weeks - and we hope they have a wonderful time! We're going to miss their company - but we've got plenty more adventures ahead of us and I'm sure we'll meet some more backpackers. Jon suggested we meet up for a curry when we get back to London. Wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry...! A game of pool and a beer or twelve is the plan, methinks...

I'm still not sold on the Delhi area, although the market is quite cool and we get hassled a bit less now. I think it's because we've become a bit more streetwise here. Eye contact is a no-no, just walk down the street with a vacant expression on your face as if you've just smoked 20 spliffs non-stop and dropped some LSD. They won't touch you with a ten foot pole.

Wasn't too worried about the train station - we've done train stations - but we've never done sleeper class! It was absolutely excellent. Visualise a carriage painted the colour of Blu-Tac with fans and AC bringing it down to sub-zero temperatures. Add bunkbeds, cheap plastic ladders, about 30 other people of mixed nationalities and a tea boy. That was our bed for the night! It was FANTASTIC, seriously! I know I don't paint a very pretty picture, but honestly it was cool being rocked to sleep all the way to Varanasi. I am seriously knackered, but the experience was so cool! We've booked another sleeper to Puri for the 23rd and I, for one, am really looking forward to it.

Anyway, we're in Varanasi and quite sleepy - but wanted to update blog. Think we're going to have a bit of an easy one today. We're going to book a boat trip at some point to see the ghats (will also need to get up early around 4-5am I think to see the funerals at the ghats - a bit ghoulish, but would love to catch one. Not allowed to take pictures - sorry folks) and I need to buy some new tops. Being a bit of an idiot I thought bringing two white tops to India would be a good idea. They're now a yellowy-white and will never meet the Daz standards ever again. Word to the wise. India. White tops. No-no.

I'm sorry for the lack of photos - having issues putting them up. I'll try and resolve that in the next few days.

Oh my god. Our hotel has a BAR! With BEER!

Yours in beer,

Caroline xx
